December Daily 2022 - Day 8
Hello there! Today I'm sharing story 8 in my December Daily album for 2022. This story isn't quite a story, but also kind of a story! This layout is about the four themes in my Advent calendar from Illustrated Faith. (It's not exactly the four themes of Advent, but a play on that).
I was going to just create a list of the Advent themes, but then I decided to have a little fun by creating a grid layout instead. I sewed the background page into a grid (three boxes across/three boxes down) and stamped the words HOPE, JOY, LIGHT, and CELEBRATE, using the same color theme as the "Happy Advent" die cut (in the top left).
The cards I received in the Advent calendar had a word theme at the top of each card, so I cut them out to add to the stamped words (I'm totally okay with the same word being near each other). I really like the difference between the typed + stamped, color + black/white.
Here's a look at the page in the album. I really wanted to include some sequins on the page but had no idea how to do it without them moving around or potentially falling off, but then I decided to LAMINATE THEM!
Man, what a gamechanger! I tucked the sequins into a page and moved them around before sending them through the laminator. Once they were laminated, I cut around the sequins and adhered them to the page. It made them a little bulky but I love how they turned out!
I decided to repeat the same technique with a bigger die cut for the center. All of the die cuts (which I absolutely adore by the way) came from the Advent calendar. For this one, I decided to tuck in some snowflake and star sequins before laminating the die cut. I added the 8 to the outside of the laminated die cut.
Instead of journaling, I added a scripture quote from one of the cards I received. This is the second year I have attempted to follow the Advent calendar in the season and I really think it helps keep me faithful during the season and helps remind me of the reason for the season.
xoxo
